I fear that you have encountered perl's deceptively
simple approach - and that it has lulled you into
a false sense of security.

Perl is EVIL! It has big sharped fanged teeth!

What starts out as a simple script will evolve
into a code line unless you prevent it! Oh sure
first its a few simple scripts, then it's
collecting the common functions into a perl
library to simply 'require' them in - then its
that silly solution about using a library like
approach for caching configuration data - eg:
fixed valued variables - then it's perl modules,
sub_classing....

RUN AWAY WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!!!
