The code from the post looks like a C programmer that is new to perl. Interesting, actually. Ive been programming in perl for years and Ive just now got in to C because Im getting my degree. Its neat to see it go the other way. Tell your programmer to go to the local bookshop and get a book called the Perl Cookbook and have them read Chapters 9 through 13. It will be easy to understand for any decent C programmer. Then they will be ready to write your program in perl.
