        perldoc README.aix

since I am presuming that you are trying to do a build on it
on an aix box - this RS60000 ....

when It failed and fried....

at the prompt invoke

        /usr/bin/bsh

this should put you into the 'bsh' and hence a new and
clean and fresh shell invocation - then try to run it with
say -
        /usr/bin/bsh Configure -de

this may get you out of jail - assuming that you have
followed the caveats in the README....
