Recommend replacing the parsing routine, mainly because it is said to have a bunch of security holes:

Also, this method allows for multiple choice form elements (where the user can hold down the control key to select more than one item), in which case the script variable would be an array rather than a scalar. Don't worry, this CGI approach is blistering fast. If it does not work then check for mismatch between script and form element names.
