This means you are telling the OS that this is a Bourne shell script
_not Perl_. You need to start perl programs like this:

#!/usr/bin/perl

Or preferably like this:

#!/usr/bin/perl
use warnings;
use strict;

Perl uses print instead of echo to display text on the standard ouput
and all strings have to be enclosed in quotes.

print "Content-type:text/plain\n\n";
print "This is text\n";

# OR

print <<EOT;
Content-type:text/plain

This is text
EOT
