If you mean can I get only the filename, yes. You could use File::Basename or
use something like this:
$filename = '/a/b/c/d/e/song.mp3'; # hold your fully qualified f
$filename =~ s/^.+[\\\/]//;
# now holds song.mp3
I use this for display purposes of the script being executed, but I don't need
to see:
a/b/c/d/f/g/file.pl but only file.pl
There are number of ways, but here is a start if I understand you correctly.
