Thanks for the links, very interesting and useful. I must admit I've thought about TT2, but I suspect it cannot handle fixed size strings, not allowing me to specify in a readable way (I mean more readable than my solution) that a field must be space padded to right 10 chars... I will come back with a more accurate solution if I found one.
