Just for the record:

<perlbot> The original "Beginning Perl" and O'Reilly's "Learning Perl" are
outdated. Please use Curtis "Ovid" Poe's "Beginning Perl" published by Wrox if
you need a beginner's book. Alternatives for people who already know
programming: "Modern Perl" (see mp) and "Programming Perl" (O'Reilly)

This is just based on other people's testimonials.

See this link:

http://perl-begin.org/exercises/

(*NOTE*: perl-begin.org is a site which I originated and which I still
maintain).

There's the book Perl Best Practices
( https://duckduckgo.com/?q=perl+best+practices&ia=products ) by Damian Conway,
which may be somewhat outdated, and I have created this public page -
http://perl-begin.org/tutorials/bad-elements/ - based on it and other
online and offline resources. My page is under the free-content/free-culture
Creative Commons Attribution Licence.

Here are some sites for Perl beginners:

* http://perl-begin.org/ (which like I said is primarily maintained by me).

* http://learn.perl.org/ - The more official site for Perl beginners.

* https://metacpan.org/ - a convenient (and open source and community
maintained) interface to CPAN , the Comprehensive Perl Archive Network. Allows
you to not reinvent the wheel (especially not square wheels), and instead start
building space rockets.
