Agreed. Dr. Ruud, that was uncalled for. You're not obligated to respond to posters, and if that's the best response you have, not responding would be a better choice. I appreciate your positive contributions to the list but this was not one of them. Shawn, that said, please consider whether _your_ response back to the entire list was advancing the discussion or throwing tinder on a spark. Then consider just pinging me directly about issues like this in the future. Thanks. Finally, Lee, I appreciate that you're new to Perl, and that you're bouncing off some of its oddly shaped bits. The way you're expressing the frustration you're feeling with that is not helping people help you. If you don't like the design of the language, there are many many other languages you could use instead, and maybe that's where your path lies. However, f you'd like to learn how Perl works, there are plenty of people here who would love to help you do that. The best way to help that happen is for you to start accepting the language and stop referring to the parts you don't understand, or don't care for, as "broken". That doesn't help you learn and it doesn't help us teach. thanks, john, aka the perl-beginners list mom. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: beginners-unsubscr...@perl.org For additional commands, e-mail: beginners-h...@perl.org http://learn.perl.org/
