I think you forgot to mention that you were using this psh. :) That or I missed it. AFAIK, there is no official Perl shell. The trouble you're having is the shell's fault, not perl's. :) You will probably have a better experience using perl directly instead of this interactive shell (I don't know of any good ones for Perl, though that doesn't mean one can't exist...).
