There is spam free news group, comp.lang.perl.announce that puts out a posting every day listing a sample of about 50 modules. If you read that every day, you will get the idea of what is what. Alsohttp://search.cpan.org/ is the home site that allows you to search for modules.
I was on that list for years and did not get a whole lot out of it. I was eventually dropped for some reason. Maybe I unsubscribed. I really got a kick out of the modules that had descriptions like "A really nifty module that does blah-blah-blah". It would be a whole lot more work, but it would be nice to have 3-4 modules covered in depth each week with examples. The Perl weekly is another option that goes farther with Perl issues: http://mail.perlweekly.com/mailman/listinfo/perlweekly Mike
