Am I right in thinking you did a fresh install of perl in
/Library /System as well as installing perl in /usr/local?
The System perl distributed with Mac OS X is essential to the OS
& shouldn’t be removed. There are tweaks to it that are system
specific hence the fact that most people install a copy of perl
in /usr/local for development.
