Is it your policy to eschew the use of such "non-standard"
modules? What do you do about DBI, say?
I can see the validity of preferring a "lightweight" module
over a "heavy" one such as Date::Manip, but I don't see the
point of distinguishing between "core" and "non-core"
modules.
