HELP

Firstly , my greetings to the Pe(a)rl community.
Then, straight ahead to the subject of this e-mail:
I 'm student in the first grade of CEID (Computer Engineering and INformatics
Department) in the University of Patras in Greece.
(which i suppose explains the poor quality of my English :-)
Among the rest,i have to write a project about Perl (and a couple of other programming
languages).Well,i imagine everybody seems to have understood i am a real beginner from
my grettings! I ve used extensive bibliography about PERL ( O'reilly, Wiley , MAn
pages ove r the network etc) but people HELP i am breaking down!
Is Perl a real programming language?I mean ,i know nothing about emacs or vi , awk or
sed but i suppose i get an idea about what they are supposed to do.And a programming
language getting so much involved with these...Argh,i don't get it!
More specifically : my essay demands me to find out about Perl data types.Would anyone
be so kind as to help me? I only find every book saying : lists , hashes etc but isn't
INteger supposed to be a data type? And then again , i 'm reading that perl has
objective features.Isn;t a class supposed to be a data type? Is there a data type such
as enumerated in PErl?

Please if anyone can give me a hand i would deeply appreciate it.I suppose some of you
used to have my kind of questions once...Or at least tell me where to search for data
types : i need exact things , from binary to integers, from arrays to hashse, from
enumarated to classes, from here to there, with examples etc for getting into deep is
pretty damn difficult....

I expect your answers.God bless the network and all good people surfing around here.I
wish one day i lle be a good engineer :then i'll write my own language and you bet
it's gonna be discastingly easy!

THANKS A LOT (even for having the opportunity to stal some of your time for nothing!)

p.s. All i need is full and exact information about perl data types. An e-mail with
straight answers over these, or even with a cople of URLs or books (here comes the
big $$$ problem!!!) can be of great help for me.Thanks a lot.

p.s.2 My project seems to be pretty big so unless i get no answers i will be rude
enough to ask for another hand soon. Thanks a lot yoy people are great (the whole
mailing list and free perl and all this stuff....it's pretty cool...!-)

Bye
