Nahh... that stuff is too freaky to be homework. I'll wager a pint or
two that this is a new guy hired to replace a guy who got smarter and
moved on to a better job, and the new guy now has inherited some
legacy web application, usually poorly coded.
We see people all the time like that in our classes. They usually
have a pretty desparate look on their face at the beginning, but a
happy face at the end. :)
But yes, the "explain this" problem is that we need to know what a
person *does* understand in order to build on that. Do you go all the
way down to "this is the letter i followed by an f, and that makes the
word 'if'"? :)
