CWD module

I am trying to get some info on CWD.pm.  Everywhere I look it seems to say 
that it is part of the Perl distro, yet when I try a perldoc cwd or perldoc 
getcwd it gives me :
No documentation found for "cwd".
or
No documentation found for "getcwd".

and when I try to run my script I get :
Can't locate CWD.pm in @INC

any suggestions?
