Hey! Postgres is definitely well received because of stored procedures but they r not an absolute must for most people. Further, I think Mysql is a lot more user-friendly database system, if one can call it that. I dont think there be many applications running on Mysql that u wanna shift to Postgres. Oracle on Linux is a headache to say the least. It is good to do it only if u have the time and energy levels to go with it as well. And if u have other applications making use of Mysql like Apache or qmail, then u should try and be patient and upgrade as soon as a new version is released. U would need atleast 6 months on Oracle before u could take a decision of migrating. However, u can think of virtually anything with Oracle once u have learnt it though. But one thing is for sure, DBMS's in general and RDBMS's in particular have a long way to go before giving the functionality on Linux platform unless one opts for Oracle. regards vicki
