isn't excel limited to something like 15,000 rows?  it's been quite a 
while since i've used it.....

can you use a relational db like postgresql or mysql?  imho that would 
be better than worrying about csv dumps and ascii imports and such. 
plus you'd get the speed and power of a real db.
