I own the following CGI/Perl books:
CGI Programming with Perl (2nd Edition)
by Scott Guelich, et al (Paperback - July 2000)
-- useful but not earth-rattling
Writing CGI Applications with Perl
by Kevin Meltzer, Brent Michalski (Paperback)
-- primitive, doesn't talk much about cgi.pm
MySQL (OTHER NEW RIDERS)
by Paul DuBois, Michael Widenius
-- very very good book if you use databases & Perl (see Ch. 7)
Mysql and Perl for the Web
by Paul DuBois
-- disappointing especially if you own the other DuBois book. I expected the
same
coherency and writing style as the other MySQL book. Having said that
though,
it is nevertheless full of useful tips and ideas.
My wish list:
Official Guide to Programming With Cgi.Pm
by Lincoln Stein (Paperback)
-- I heard that everything in this book can be found in the docs of cgi.pm
but I want it anyway.
Programming the Perl DBI
by Alligator Descartes, Tim Bunce (Paperback - February 2000)
-- I want it for my collection. Just to have it & hold it & love it. I also
heard that
everything in this book can be found in the docs.
Perl for the Web
by Chris Radcliff (Paperback)
-- For large enterprise-scale solutions that need tweeking out. I would like
to flip
through it first before buying.
