To answer this part of your question, I don't believe there is anything in 
fava that automatically executes bean-price. I believe that you still need 
price directives added to your ledger. You can add those manually, during 
transaction import or with bean-price. There's also a tool listed as part 
of the lazy-beancount project

that states it can fetch prices for you on demand via a UI extension to 
fava, but I haven't used it yet.
