For "blank" boards, we do have a patch to assume bbb.. (for the oem's that produce the bbb's) https://github.com/RobertCNelson/Bootloader-Builder/blob/master/patches/v2016.03/0002-NFM-Production-eeprom-assume-device-is-BeagleBone-Bl.patch if this is done on the white, lots of bad things can happen, ddr2 vs ddr3, ldo3...
