ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Ken announced that at Gallifrey One came the news that the next 3
conventions will be their last, over the next 3 years

Yochanan announced that there will be a lecture, 'When Machines Meet the
Universe: AI and the Future of Astronomy, Wed, Feb 19 at 7pm at Stanford
see =

& he announced that the 3rd season of 'Yellowjacket' is
airing now

Reviews:

The secretary saw 'Flow' in the theatre & enjoyed it very, very much &
recommend it as being worth full price. Yochanan agreed, also rates it as
worth full price. Trey followed, explaining the movie is made in Latvia,
has no dialogue & the viewpoint character is a small cat with a reasonably
easy to follow plot & it's extremely well-animated. He rates it as worth
matinee. Duncan commented that he saw this at home & that his cat was
absolutely fascinated by the film & says that anyone who has a cat should
arrange for a movie night with their cat to see this movie & rates it as 2
thumbs and 2 toes up.

Yochanan reviewed the movie 'Saturday Night' about the first night that
'Saturday Night Live' premiered & is a very uneven movie with some great &
some parts drag. He saw it streaming on Netflix & is worth maybe matinee.
Ken commented that it is a real-time film, unfolding in real-time &
more-or-less factual & he really enjoyed it

and he reviewed 'Class' featuring young adults facing Dr Who
style situations while at school & had some Dr Who tie-ins & he wanted to
like it, but found it only 'okay', but even so is better than much of what
is on TV. He saw it on a 2 DVD set. Ken commented that the series was
meant as 'Dr Who, but for kids' & Patty - after a cat on keyboard episode -
said she really like it

and he reviewed 'Yellowjackets' seasons 1 & 2 as a show on
Netflix & Prime. The show is a mystery/thriller about a class of students
who survive a plane crash & are rescued 19 months later, with the survivors
interviewed 25 years later. Action is split between past and present
segments & he found it to be a very meaty drama that was very well-acted,
even though it suffers from 'the worst theme song ever', but is otherwise
an excellent series.

Rick reviewed 'The Plot Against America' miniseries on HBO, based on the
Philip Roth novel, as very well-acted & an interesting alternate history.
Gerry commented favorably about it

Ken reviewed Gallifrey One in 35mm as it was held this past weekend and
there were lots of guests from different Dr Who shows at the convention.
Lots of guest, lots of attendees, lots of fun, although it was not as
crowded as it was the last time he went, 12 years ago. Ken attended a lot
of panels and had lots of fun. They drove down on Thursday during pouring
windy rain and 'it was an adventure', but the weather for driving back was
lovely.

and the rumor of the week was = 'All right, who scared the rain away?'

we adjourned at = 8:45pm

there were no auctions
