HI Folks,
There was no poll on Facebook.  There was a suggestion in the BASFA group on
Facebook that we look at times other than 8 PM Mondays PDT, in order to
accommodate European members, and a comment that we could discuss it in the
future, but there was no poll and the virtual meetings will be held at 8 PM PDT
(meeting room opening at 7 PM) for the foreseeable future.

I don't do Facebook, which is why I suggested www.allcounted.com
(forms.google.com works, but I suggested it almost a joke, because I thought
the survey maker might hate Google as much as I hate Facebook).8

In any case, I hope the survey maker will try again, using a tool that works
for everyone and including all the date/time choices, including the current one.

No, it wouldn't work.  You'd have to be on Facebook for that poll to work.

The message I got shows choices, but doesn't allow choosing anything.
www.allcounted.com might be more universal, or maybe forms.google.com (there
are lots of other choices, of course; Google "free online survey").

It has come to my attention that a facebook poll has started about
online meeting dates and times. Since we are not all on facebook, I thought I
would repost this here (below, scroll).  Since I and others have to a degree
planned our annual schedules for BASFA on Monday evening, and have other things
going during the day and other evenings, virtual or otherwise, my vote would be
to continue meeting, virtually or otherwise, on Monday evenings.  Since one
doesn't have to drive through commute traffic to get to a virtual meeting,
perhaps we could start as early as 6 or 7 pm?
Review: For an exercise in eerie anticipation, check out Sarah Pinsker's
novel, A Song for a New Age.  It's a rare piece of straight science fiction (no
magic, no pseudo science) nominated for a Nebula and Hugo award.  It takes
place in a near future US with gathering restrictions very similar to the ones
that have just fallen upon us (she must have written this more than a couple
years ago) and imagines them not going away.  She's following a female
singer/performer "Luce Cannon" who's trying to revive live band performances,
etc.  Good writing, characters, with some interesting switches between first
and third person for her main characters which doesn't bother me, but bothered
some reviewers.
Rumor of the Meek:  People are praying to effigies of the Donald asking him
not to hurt them by denying COVID-19 virus aid to states who don't worship him.
