Thank you, Michael. I think I'm the one who put in the 1989, because I
mis-calculated when trying to work it out. I knew that it had to be between
1987 and 1993, because I was working for Blue Shield of California at the time
of the formation. I thought I was at Meeting Zero, but I'm not absolutely
certain now.

I've updated the BASFA web site accordingly.

Updated the article with corrected date of formation (1991). I know it wasn't
1989 because I moved to the Bay Area then (West Pittsburg, now called BayPoint)
and didn't get involved with Bay Area fandom until early 1991.

Dave and Marli Medinnus, Lamont and Mitzi Jones, myself and several other
concom staff were sitting in the Quiet Bar at the (then) Red Lion Hotel after
about the 4th or 5th weekend in a row of having concom meetings for one
convention or another (Baycon, Silicon, Timecon, a media con and something
else) and Dave was complaining that we only ever see each other at committee
meetings. I suggested starting a social club where we could actually have fun.
Dave asked how.

I told him the 5 Rules for starting a club or organization:

 1. Set a date
 2. Set a time
 3. Set a place
 4. Tell people
 5. Do it again

Dave called the next day (a Monday in July) and said "Coco's at Lawrence and
Oakmead, 8:00 pm, Wednesday."

There were 28 people at the first meeting. My "Numismatic Responsibility Act"
was proposed and adopted. Dave was elected President. I think Lamont was
Treasurer. We've met (mostly) weekly since then.

We've met at various other locations over the years. Activities at meetings
have come and gone (we used to be a hotbed of Hearts playing back in the day),
but the club goes on.

And Death will not release it.

Here's a really stupid question:

I've made Wikipedia entries and edits over the years, but a friend has recently
tried but his edits get consistently rejected. Doesn't seem like he's adding
any inaccurate, offensive, or self-serving content. Is there some new form of
vetting or auto-reject mechanism in effect on Wikipedia?

Tnanks,

This is probably a stupid question but I noticed the BASFA web page does not
link to the wikipedia entry either. Could you add that link to the links page
at basfa.com<http://basfa.com/>?
