Trey Haddad, President Chris Garcia, Vice-President Dave Gallaher, Treasurer Galen Tripp, Sargeant at Arms Barbara Johnson-Haddad, Secretary held at Coco's, 1206 Oakmead Parkway (Lawrence Expressway/101 fwy), Sunnyvale Began at 8 pm 26 people attended we established a Salon Futura jar Secretary’s report: the minutes from meeting 1059 were accepted as 'congratulations Brian Wilson!' the Treasurer reported that at meeting 1059 we took in $0 in the regular jar & $5.00 in the Salon Futura jar the Vice President was not here The President had nothing fannish to report Announcements: [tall] Kevin announced that Cheryl Morgan at Wizard's Tower Press has published its 1st book – 'Dark Spires' & they are about to launch their 1st award – check www.sfftawards.org – and they are looking for donations Dave C announced that Stanford beat Cal & the heavens wept – plus he announced that there are cons coming up = LosCon & SorcererCon Glenn announced that the weekend after Thanksgiving is SMOFcon at the St Clair & it will be $65.00 at the door. Dan & Kat introduced themselves and announced that at 6pm+ on Thursday they will be doing meaty and began delicacies & to see them for details Diana announced that she is Josh's mom & that 'a Thought for Food' should have a table at SorcererCon Spring announced that she will have a table at SorcererCon – free drink with purchase Dave G announced that he & Spring are planning their annual party for Jan 1st & they are looking for feedback – so please go to Spring's LJ and give suggestions Reviews Andy reviewed 'District B13' – a very strange, near-future French dystopic film as completely mad & highly recommended & reviewed 'Mooring at the Dock' – a swedish film = 'Angora En Brygga' about docking a sailboat, as an insane comedy Adrienne reviewed 'Harry Potter 7a' as she enjoyed the book, the actors did well and the fx were good, but the plot of the movie was hackneyed at times; worth matinee; Lisa follow-on'd that she enjoyed it; Aatheus did not think it was worth seeing in IMAX Dave G reviewed the American retread of 'Top Gear' as reimagined and diminished – as he wasn't really impressed; [tall[ Kevin follow-on'd that he was not hugely disappointed by the retread & then Dave reviewed 'Beyond the Beyond' by Lee Goldberg as fun & he recommends it Spring reviewed the Oakland Museum of California for the Pizar exhibit and it was phenominal – worth full price and museum membership Glenn reviewed OryCon as he spent most of his time behind the table but had a pretty good time – [tall] Kevin reviewed the 'Match Game' as surprisingly well attended & he had great panelists & there may be a Westercon 66 bid from Portland; Glenn also recommends the web-comic 'Sinfest' & hopes 'Tron 2' will live up to the trailer he saw Fred reviewed 'For the Win' by Cory Doctorow as much better than he expected and he recommends it Then we did more auctions – books for $3.00; magazines for $1.00; & a bag for $0.25 We adjourned at = 9:08 The rumor of the week was: 'Trey is in favor of 'Lust in Translation' -- ******************* She/whispered/'Oh/my/goodness/what/are/all/these/squirrels/doing/here?' melc...@gmail.com *******************
