The file daemon is probably what you refer to as agent. All of the
services can be run on freebsd.

I haven't seen a tape-robot that you couldn't make work with
Bareos yet.
Also, I haven't seen a tape-robot that didn't work out-of-the-box for
10+ years. You may need to tweak a few things to make it flawless,
but
that's a different story.
