Try starting your storage daemon with debug level of at least 50 (so for
example with -d100 on the command line).
This should show you whether the daemon was able to load the plugin or not.
You can also look at our test code, e.g. here:

for a working configuration with autoxflate enabled. Keep in mind that
this config does contain placeholders of the form @...@, so you cannot
actually load them like this. But you should still be able to use them
as a reference to check your configuration.
