Looks like amid the gloom & doom around us, the release of Python 3.0 went unnoticed.
Py3k was released a week ago on Dec 3rd officially. http://www.python.org/download/releases/3.0/ However, the language has undergone a lot of changes , both subtle and in-your-face. A number of familiar paradigms have changed (the most obvious is the "print" statement which has become a function). I guess Py3k will take quite take a couple of years at least to get adopted by most open source Python projects.
