Hello, I'd like to let you know that we have released Bacularis 6.5.0. The main new feature in this release is Restore Verification, which provides automated restore testing.
A successful backup does not necessarily guarantee that the required data can later be restored correctly. For this reason, administrators often perform periodic test restores. The new Restore Verification feature in Bacularis makes it possible to automate this process. Restore tests verify data from restored backups according to defined criteria. Two verification methods are available: - Rule-based verification - verification is performed using Bacularis checkers. The administrator defines the verification criteria, and Bacularis runs the checks after the restore. These can include simple file and directory checks, checksum verification, as well as application-level tests. It is also possible to create custom checkers, for example to verify whether a restored database dump can be imported successfully and queried with SQL. - Native Bacula Verify - this method uses the native Bacula Verify Job with the DiskToCatalog level to verify restored data. In short, Restore Verification is a flexible framework for automated testing of backup restores. You can find more information about this feature in the dedicated section of the Bacularis documentation. There is also a short video guide presenting its basic functionality: https://bacularis.app/doc/restore-verification/general.html Besides Restore Verification, Bacularis 6.5.0 includes a number of other changes. Thanks to the work and involvement of our community member Philippe Ramage, we have updated the French translation of Bacularis. We have also added support for Bacula 17.0. You can find the full release notes here: https://bacularis.app/news/176/36/New-release-Bacularis-6.5.0 We encourage you to try the new version and share your feedback with us.
