The way I deal with this is to keep all Android user data on a server
folder, which is backed up, and use a sync app such as Syncthing or Resilio
( both free, I use Syncthing-fork ) to automatically sync Android devices
selected folders to the server in real time. Not a true backup in the sense
of a complete image I know but it protects the valuable stuff. It's also
nice that changes get propagated around automatically.

This also works for Mac and I guess Win also which I don't use.
