One thing i’ve always found useful is to install Webmin and the Bacula module. 
It gives a quick overview of the config in GUI form and helps to spot config 
errors. One caveat is not to save any configs from it as it doesn’t respect the 
time units that are in the pool configs for retention times etc.

Webmin is handy for all sorts of tasks too.
