Hi, I am puzzled by the different behaviour of different versions of FD during Verify jobs. One finding looks to me like a bug, so if someone knows better, please let me know.
I am running a number of clients using different versions for the FD, while the SD and Director run 11.x The verify jobs use level Data, a dummy fileset that is actually empty and a verify setting of “pins1”. The reporting of the FD versions I am using varies in the following ways: FD 9.6.7: -the FD is not reporting each file that has been verified -differences found during verification are reported in detail per each file which is exhibiting differences FD 11.0.6: -the FD is not reporting each file that has been verified -the details about differences found during verification are NOT reported FD 13.0.1: -the FD is reporting each file that has been verified (this seems to be a new feature in 13, but it is not mentioned in the documentation. The log lines may be filtered using “!verified”, and this is also not documented) -the details about differences found during verification are NOT reported for all above versions holds: -if any differences are found, the job is marked as verified with differences, so it is easy to find all those jobs At first I thought that I am just not seeing the details about differences because the Director uses a lower version than the FD. This still might be the case for the FD version 13, BUT, FD v11 also does not give me the details about differences found during verification. For me this is a problem (or even a bug), as I will just be informed that a job found differences, but not which file(s) are affected. Could it be possible that reporting of differences somehow broke in v11, and that has yet not been fixed? Let me point out again, that I am talking about verify level Data. The behavior likely is different for other verification levels as they all work quite differently regarding what daemons are involved. Level Data involves the FD, AFAIK. So is there a bug, or am I just misunderstanding something? How could I get the details on which files were verified with differences when using FD v11 and v13?
