Hello Eric,

It is an other possibility that can be very nice, long jobs has the
tendency to be difficult to manage (anything can happen during this 6
days), if you can have 7 parts that you backup individually, you would
reduce the total data to something like 1/7 * total + 6/7 * incr_size.
If the incremental size is about 10% of the total, it becomes very
interesting.

Best Regards,
Eric

I think I agree that long job means big risk of errors. Especially that (if I understood correctly from my short experience with Bacula on tapes), if a job is finished in error, it is useless and I have to restart from zero (it's not like rsync ...).

On the other hand, I do not fully understand your suggestion for the incremental part, maybe because in my immediate need, I don't have any incrementals: I just want to archive 4 volumes (I have 4 x 50 TB) from some NAS Synology machines, and we want to have a  snapshot copy for these volumes. Maybe you can point me to a section of the guide, if any for this point.

Best regards,

Dans
