I have done so more compiling of openssl and I can confirm that this is not a problem with having the "api=*.*.*".
Bacula seems to work fine on a standard compile of openssl-1.1.1. (apart from the slight "./configure" modification) From what I have tracked down it looks like one of the LDFLAGS in my systems default openssl. Philip
