By "no big load on the disks" do you mean on the client disks? What about on the NAS? If it is not the NAS, then I would start by examining what the bacula-fd is doing in the several seconds of "silence" between it and the SD. E.g. use tools like ktrace and dtrace, or attach gdb to the bacula-fd and look at the backtraces.
