Hi Wanderlei
Thank you very much for getting back to me. I should
have said that we currently cant bscan any tapes into our catalogue. I’m the
new sys admin in our company I’ve inherited this and bacula is in a pretty bad
state at the moment. I can only blist and bextract individual files from tapes
at the moment. When I try to bscan I get a segmentation fault error. I’ve had a
look online and the way to fix that is to migrate the database from MySQL to
postgres and a fresh install of a newer version of bacula. We’re currently
running on Ubuntu 10 and Bacula 5.0.1 it badly needs some TLC. I’m planning to
switch over to postgres and a newer version of bacula in a month or two but for
now if there was any other method other than bscan to force bacula to look at
an old tape I’d love to know.

Kind Regards

Subject: Re: [Bacula-users] Moving old bacula Volume to Tape (LTO)

Hello Anthony

You could use bscan to read the Volume4 to recreate the information in catalog
and after that, migrate the Jobs.

Best Regards

Hi everyone
I was hoping someone could answer a very quick question I had
about migrating old bacula volumes to tape. We have our File Retention Period
for 3 months after which we move files to an LTO-5 Tape. We also have a
migration job setup in the conf files of our servers that move to volumes to
tape after 3 months (then the jobs are purged from the bacula catalogue) Due to
unforeseen issues with our tape drive we missed one of these migration jobs.
Now on our server the file layout looks like this: Volume1, Volume2, Volume3,
and Volume4 (Volume4 being the one that we missed) I can't run a Migration job
now as every time I try it looks to migrate Volume3 (as its 3 months old) If
there any way I can force bacula to look at a specific volume and migrate that
to tape. the command I'm using is: '*run client=Server-fd
job=Server-Migration-Job Level=Full storage=Server-Storage"

Does anyone know if there is a way to get bacula to migrate the missing Volume4
to LTO tape

Kind Regards
