Unfortunately, neither CIFS nor NFS
include a truncate() function, and this problem was not noticed
because not many people write Volumes directly to a CIFS/NFS
mount. Doing so is not really a good idea for a number of reasons
reasons.
Any way, once it was discovered (quite a long time ago), I fixed
it by "emulating" a truncate. Consequently, I suspect that if you
upgrade to a more recent version of Bacula, it will probably work.

The nas_01 device is a small 1 TB NAS, mounted via fstab:
