Yes it is. It is highly recommended to use a recent kernel to get the most stable version possible. The FAQ (https://btrfs.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/FAQ#Is_btrfs_stable.3F) says to keep backups... a curious comment given our use case :) I think the only major flaw is that running out of space can cause some problems that can be difficult to resolve, but this information may be out of date. On the plus side, you get fast compression, and you are better protected for data corruption issues.
