Hi Team, I have Bacula installation on RHEL 6.4 with bacula version 5.2.12 . I am taking backup in IBM LTO-4 tapes for obvious which has data capacity of 800 GB.
From some time I am observing that Bacula is marking tape volumes as FULL only after writing data around 200 GB on disks. Please tell me why it is behaving like that. I am not using any compression for my backups and there is not job or volume limit is set on volumes/pools. using list command in bconsole I am getting below. *list media **********output truncated************* ---+---------------------+ | MediaId | VolumeName | VolStatus | Enabled | VolBytes | VolFiles | VolRetention | Recycle | Slot | InChanger | MediaType | LastWritten | +---------+------------+-----------+---------+-----------------+----------+--------------+---------+------+-----------+-----------+---------------------+ | 34 | A00024L4 | Full | 1 | 896,351,210,496 | 154 | 7,776,000 | 1 | 34 | 1 | LTO-4 | 2013-10-13 22:03:17 | | 35 | A00025L4 | Full | 1 | 202,096,935,936 | 31 | 7,776,000 | 1 | 35 | 1 | LTO-4 | 2013-10-17 03:30:27 | | 36 | A00026L4 | Full | 1 | 208,561,554,432 | 32 | 7,776,000 | 1 | 36 | 1 | LTO-4 | 2013-10-21 03:30:36 | | 42 | A00027L4 | Append | 1 | 3,871,687,680 | 2 | 7,776,000 | 1 | 37 | 1 | LTO-4 | 2013-10-22 13:08:34 | +---------+------------+-----------+---------+-----------------+----------+--------------+---------+------+-----------+-----------+---------------------+ **********output truncated************* +---------+------------+-----------+---------+-----------------+----------+--------------+---------+------+-----------+-----------+---------------------+ | MediaId | VolumeName | VolStatus | Enabled | VolBytes | VolFiles | VolRetention | Recycle | Slot | InChanger | MediaType | LastWritten | +---------+------------+-----------+---------+-----------------+----------+--------------+---------+------+-----------+-----------+---------------------+ | 1 | A00040L4 | Full | 1 | 437,426,325,504 | 61 | 7,776,000 | 1 | 1 | 1 | LTO-4 | 2013-09-30 17:33:10 | | 2 | A00041L4 | Full | 1 | 194,283,758,592 | 31 | 7,776,000 | 1 | 2 | 1 | LTO-4 | 2013-10-04 22:06:00 | | 3 | A00042L4 | Full | 1 | 217,215,065,088 | 38 | 7,776,000 | 1 | 3 | 1 | LTO-4 | 2013-10-16 22:06:22 | | 5 | A00043L4 | Full | 1 | 212,010,236,928 | 30 | 7,776,000 | 1 | 4 | 1 | LTO-4 | 2013-10-20 23:33:36 | **********output truncated************* it is showing capacity of disk is almost 896,351,210,496 bytes which it has written for first volume. later it is writing unexpected amount of data. below is O/P of replacement needed volumes. *query Available queries: 16: List Volumes likely to need replacement from age or errors Choose a query (1-20): 16 +------------+--------+--------+------------+--------+ | Volume | Mounts | Errors | Writes | Status | +------------+--------+--------+------------+--------+ | A00024L4 | 12 | 0 | 13,894,334 | Full | | A00054L4 | 1 | 2 | 10,525 | Full | | A00043L4 | 1 | 2 | 3,286,370 | Full | | A00042L4 | 1 | 2 | 3,367,050 | Full | | A00026L4 | 3 | 2 | 3,232,912 | Full | | A00025L4 | 3 | 2 | 3,132,704 | Full | | A00053L4 | 9 | 2 | 34,319 | Full | | A00040L4 | 2 | 3 | 6,780,543 | Full | | A00041L4 | 3 | 4 | 3,011,592 | Full | +------------+--------+--------+------------+--------+ Please tell me how to solve this issue as it is wasting lot's of resources. in any case please also tell me Is there is any way which tells this is due to bad disks or not.?
