Not sure I agree with this.  My experience is most of them WON'T.  My
last full backup (on an LTO4 drive) failed three times in a row with
premature EOTs (130GB-160GB into tapes that should be holding ~800GB),
until in desperation I loaded a cleaning tape and ran *two* cleaning
cycles in succession.  Next run completed perfectly with zero errors.
