LTO provides for hardware compression which depends on the compressibiliy of the data being written on the cartridge (as an anecdote from my $dayjob where I'm putting .wav files to LTO-4 cartridges, a single cartridge usually records up to 1TB of data insead of bare 800GB). That's why it's usually advised to turn software comression off in Bacula and rely on the compression done by LTO drive. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ October Webinars: Code for Performance Free Intel webinars can help you accelerate application performance.
