It's definitely possible (I've been using Bacula with WOL that way for years); RunBeforeJob definitely does *not* require prior contact with the FD. A possible problem is that the director tries to start the job as soon as the script called in RunBeforeJob returns; therefore you should make sure it blocks until the client has booted up and the FD is ready to accept connections.
