John, I just have one more question. If a tape has expired because of the volume retention period and the job record is in intact in the catalog will the incremental backup for a given client continue or will it be upgraded to a "FULL back-up" because the tape has expired? Thank you.

If the tape/volume has its retention period expired but it was not recycled you should be able to restore as normal. I believe in that case (with no specified job or file retention) bacula would not have purged the job records until the tape was recycled.
