The setup uses Bacula, vchanger, udev, autofs, and cryptsetup on Linux to perform auto-mounting of encrypted, removable SATA drives for off-site backups.
Several backup jobs were running simultaneously and Bacula had asked in the middle of the running jobs for new media. The SATA drive was removed, a new one inserted, Update slots command was run and Bacula carried on with the backup jobs. However, when Bacula got to the lower priority Copy jobs that were queued, the initial SATA drive where some of the Backup Jobs were written to was no longer in the eSATA caddy and instead of Bacula asking the operator to "insert volume c0_0004_0047" it failed the jobs. Below is the job log of one of the copy jobs: This is Bacula v5.2.12 on Linux I'd consider this to be a bug, and would be happy to post a bug report unless someone convinces me otherwise. :) Thanks! --[snip]-- 18-Nov 03:00 speedy-dir JobId 17956: The following 1 JobId was chosen to be copied: 17931 18-Nov 03:00 speedy-dir JobId 17956: Copying using JobId=17931 Job=Zimbra.2012-11-17_02.45.00_47 18-Nov 03:00 speedy-dir JobId 17956: Bootstrap records written to /var/lib/bacula/speedy-dir.restore.37.bsr 19-Nov 17:12 speedy-dir JobId 17956: Start Copying JobId 17956, Job=CopyZimbra.2012-11-18_03.00.00_11 19-Nov 17:12 speedy-dir JobId 17956: Using Device "FileStorage" 19-Nov 17:12 speedy-sd JobId 17956: No slot defined in catalog (slot=0) for Volume "c0_0004_0047" on "eSATA-0" (/var/lib/bacula/vchanger/c0/0/drive0). 19-Nov 17:12 speedy-sd JobId 17956: Cartridge change or "update slots" may be required. 19-Nov 17:12 speedy-sd JobId 17956: 3307 Issuing autochanger "unload slot 9, drive 0" command. 19-Nov 17:12 speedy-sd JobId 17956: Warning: acquire.c:280 Read acquire: Wrong Volume mounted on device "eSATA-0" (/var/lib/bacula/vchanger/c0/0/drive0): Wanted c0_0004_0047 have c0_0006_0009 19-Nov 17:12 speedy-sd JobId 17956: 3304 Issuing autochanger "load slot 116, drive 0" command. 19-Nov 17:12 speedy-sd JobId 17956: Fatal error: 3992 Bad autochanger "load slot 116, drive 0": ERR=Unknown error during program execvp.
