I do not know about that and I have had a 2 drive autochanger for 6 years... However after issuing update slots in bacula it will remember what tapes are in what slots so then when it needs a tape it will know what slot to load. So every time you change volumes you need to issue update slots. You also should use the label barcodes command in bacula to add new volumes to a pool. I add the volumes to the Scratch pool and whenever bacula needs a volume in other pools (and there are no volumes that can be recycled) it will grab a volume from the scratch.
