ok, my mysql did the same thing:

mysql Ver 14.14 Distrib 5.5.21, for Linux (x86_64) using readline 5.1

I just setup a user that can access without a password and made the string:

mysql+mysqlconnector://usernopass:@localhost
<mailto:squirmFartz556@localhost>/bacula

which seemed to work, forgot about that!
