I just upgraded from 5.0.2 to 5.2.2 in the hope that the bug fixes solve a persistent problem that we've been having (for previous reports and more details, see [1]).
Unfortunately, the problem still exists, occurs frequently, and causes backups to be very unreliable. In short, bacula will call mtx to load a tape into the correct drive in our changer, but then does not mount the tape. The backup hangs while waiting for the tape to be loaded, and bacula gives the message: Please mount Volume "004083" or label a new one The tape is assigned to the correct pool, in the correct drive, has been used before (ie., it has been labeled by bacula), and is in the Append state. Issuing "mount" from within bconsole produces the error that the device is "open but no Bacula volume is mounted." Unloading the tape from outside bacula (with mtx), then reloading the tape, running "update slots", and then "mount" from within bconsole causes bacula to correctly recognize the presence of the tape and continue the backup. Are there any suggestions?
