Hey Martin. Absolutely nothing was written to the tape. It is just a matter of 1) inserting the tape into the drive, 2) mounting it on bconsole, 3) trying the restore, 4) receiving the Input/output error, 5) retrying the restore and 6) not getting any error. Regarding hardware, we already had this tape drive replaced a few months ago due to the suspicion of hardware problem regarding ineffective compression. Tape drive firmware was also updated. It turned out to be a problem with mt-st initialization of tape parameters. Guess there could be a connection with input/output error, but I don't know where to start.
