Correct, but with monthly fulls you should set the time to 90-100 days. > If I wanted a 180 day cycle > then would want to extend that to the incrementals and > diffs as well, right? yes. When the volume carrying the oldest full backup expires, the subsequent diffs/incrementals are useless but leaving them in place won't hurt. If you prune them all out immediately there's a possibility that the temporary increase in available volumes may result in you not spotting a need for more tapes/disk space as overall usage creeps up, until you need the things urgently. (It's a lot easier to purge a couple of volumes close to expiry than to have to hold up backups while waiting for more LTO5s to be delivered.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Create and publish websites with WebMatrix Use the most popular FREE web apps or write code yourself; WebMatrix provides all the features you need to develop and publish your website. http://p.sf.net/sfu/ms-webmatrix-sf _______________________________________________ Bacula-users mailing list Bacula-users@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/bacula-users
