At work my director, database and main storage (I have more than 1
storage machine) have been on 3 different machines for the last 6
years of bacula. That is for about 25000 completed jobs and about 30TB
backed up at a time with a 20 to 30 GB database.

The modern datacenter depends on network connectivity to access resources
and provide services. The best practices for maximizing a physical server's
connectivity to a physical network are well understood - see how these
rules translate into the virtual world?
